Tim McCarthy P.E. Severs Ties With EFS, Forms New Company

Tim McCarthy P.E. announced the formation of a new company today, The Roof Reinforcer, Inc. The new company is completely independent of the former EFS. Furthermore Tim McCarthy P.E. has severed all ties with Engineered Framing Systems, with which he was a former minority partner. "Being a minority partner, I had little influence on how money was spent. But, we wish them well in their Los Angeles area framing enterprise," said Mr. McCarthy, "which is their expertise. Our engineering group will continue to perform the engineering and reinforcement services nationwide that my clients have entrusted to me over the years."

The Roof Reinforcer will be based initially in Southern California but is planning to open an East Coast Office soon. "Our client's concerns are nationwide. We believe an Eastern, and perhaps a Southern location too, say Dallas, will enable us to better care for our customers."

The Roof Reinforcer is the nation's leading supplier of turnkey roof structure reinforcement services to the retail and restaurant industries.

Tim McCarthy Severs Ties With Engineered Framing Systems, Inc.,

Tim McCarthy has severed ties with Engineered Framing Systems.

Citing significant professional and philosophical differences in business management, client care and relationships to vendors, Tim McCarthy announced plans this month to form a new engineering group with his team that he has developed over the last several years. "Our clients will experience uninterrupted service with our new enterprise, with the same level of care they have grown accustomed to from me, as I am, as anyone who knows me knows .... Target Steps Up Expansion, Continues to Grow Grocery Business

Target Steps Up Expansion, Continues to Grow Grocery Business: "

In what seems to be an attempt to compete more effectively with the dollar stores, Target made two announcements about its plans for 2011. The first concerns its store opening plans. In 2010, the retailer slowed down its growth pace, preferring instead to concentrate on renovating existing units. This year, however, Target intends to double its number of store openings to 21, according to The Star Tribune.

Furthermore, it will continue to add grocery components to more and more locations, including 380 stores this year, according to Supermarket News. And it will begin testing a smaller store format intended to make it easier for the big box operator to grow into urban areas:

He said Target plans to open its first units of a new small urban format — called City Target — in 2012, woth pilot locations set for Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago. “If successful, this format will provide us more flexibility to operate in densely populated areas on sites that won’t accommodate our larger-store formats,” Steinhafel said.
